Biography
Marianne has sketched landscapes and figures as far back as she can remember. While other children drew stick figures, she drew fashion models. While other children broke their crayons and stepped on them, Marianne cherished hers. Her favorite gifts were art supplies. Her parents recognized her talent for art early on and encouraged her by giving her gifts of colored pencils, crayons, and watercolors. Marianne drew whenever and wherever she could. It was difficult to find a blank piece of paper in her home. With her main focus on fashion, Marianne thought she would find a career in newspaper or magazine illustration. Life's path is never a straight line, it bends and branches. Marianne grew up, married, had children, and a career in business; but not as an illustrator. Her college degree was in accounting, not art, but she continued to sketch and paint in her spare time. Once her children were grown, Marianne had more spare time and her husband encouraged her to pursue her dream of being a professional artist.
